Sacred Hearts Parish is pleased to offer faith formation and education opportunities for adults throughout their lives. There are several opportunities:
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the means by which adults can enter the Catholic Church through the sacraments of Initiation. Adults who have not been baptized, or who have been baptized in a non-Catholic Church, are encouraged to contact Dr. Elizabeth Woodard, pastoral associate, to inquire about RCIA. Classes meet on Wednesday evenings for one hour, and typically go from September through April. Adults who were baptized in the Catholic Church but have not received the sacrament of confirmation are also encouraged to reach out to find out about how to participate in a regional adult confirmation.
Are you searching for a deeper connection to God, a deeper understanding of your faith, a deeper meaning in your life? Please join Dr. Elizabeth Woodard, pastoral associate, one Saturday evening per month (immediately following the 4:00 Mass) in the Sacred Hearts Parish Hall for a time of reflection on topics relevant to today’s Catholic. Refreshments are always served!
Our schedule of topics for the 2022-2023 year include:
Retreats are unique opportunities to set aside a large chunk of time during which to tend to your spiritual care. Whether it is an evening, multi-day, or weekend retreat, we try to offer a few opportunities each year, often times through a group such as the Catholic Daughters or Knights of Columbus, for the faithful to meditate on a specific theme and to come away refreshed, renewed, and revived in God's love. Check the bulletin or contact the office for information on upcoming retreats.
Meeting with the pastor to receive the sacrament of reconciliation or to seek pastoral care during periods in a person's life is something you can set up a meeting with Fr. John Delaney, pastor, about. You are also encouraged to come any Saturday at 3pm to the Immaculate Heart of Mary chapel, where the sacrament of reconciliation is offered.
Spiritual Direction is the practice of sitting down, usually once per month, with a conversation partner to check in about your prayer life and spirituality. It's a place to discuss events in your life and search for God's sometimes hidden role and invitation in them. If you are interested in spiritual direction, please contact Dr. Elizabeth Woodard, pastoral associate.
"To teach is to learn twice." There is nothing quite like teaching in our K-8 faith formation program or our 9-10th grade confirmation program to put you back in touch with your faith. Consider teaching! If you are interested in K-8, please contact Laura Montes, and if you are interested in confirmation, please contact Elizabeth Woodard.
