PGC (Protecting God's Children)
Studies show that 1 in 5 females and 1 in 10 males will endure sexual abuse before reaching adulthood. This abuse can be prevented. Usually, there are signs that a situation is dangerous before abuse actually occurs. If our community works together to notice and respond to such signs, we can prevent child sexual abuse. How do I learn to notice them?
Protecting God’ Children (PGC), also known as Virtus, is a one-time, three-hour class that gives valuable tools to adults who wish to learn how to notice and prevent child sexual abuse. All parish volunteers are required to take this course, but even if you do not volunteer or work for the parish, we would like to encourage all parishioners to
consider participating in this important program. It will give you valuable insights that could help children here at the parish or in your own life. It is free of charge.
