The Sacred Hearts food pantry serves 1,000-1,200 families per week, all Haverhill residents and kids in our own local schools. We distribute 17 tons of food each week. The food comes from a variety of sources, including weekly parish donations, food banks, monetary donations, and farms who donate food.
We are open to distribute food to the public Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8-11am. The address is 13 Carleton Avenue in Bradford. If you are in need of food, please bring a proof of residency (a piece of mail will suffice).
Especially during the most recent rise in the cost of living, we are in dire need of volunteers. We are seeking volunteers to help with the following items:
- Each week, we need help unloading trucks, unloading people’s cars, putting bags together, unpackaging bulk items, and packaging items for distribution, and distributing food to the public.
- We seek someone to drive a truck into Boston to retrieve food from food banks.
- We seek people to supervise high school volunteers during school breaks and summer vacations.
- We are looking for an apprentice manager, someone to assist five days a week from 8-11am.
If you are willing to give of your time to volunteer, please first be sure you have completed CORI and PGC, and then contact Bill LaPierre at [email protected] or 508-542-0698.
If you would like to donate food, please bring it to the church vestibule (outside the elevator) when coming to Mass, or to the food pantry any weekday between 8-11am.
