St. Vincent de Paul
“Let us do all the good we can, and trust God to do the rest.” -Blessed Frederic Ozanam, Society of St. Vincent de Paul Founder
St. Vincent De Paul Warm Homes & Warm Hearts Project
“We should strive to keep our hearts open to the sufferings and wretchedness of other people, and pray continually that God may grant us that spirit of compassion which is the true spirit of God” – St. Vincent DePaul
The mission of the Society of St. Vincent De Paul is “to serve God by serving the Poor”. It is through the generous financial support of others we are able to carry out this mission.
Many of you know us through our Food Pantry and generously support it. We are so grateful for that ongoing support.
The Society of St. Vincent DePaul of Sacred Hearts Conference strives to see the face of Jesus in everyone we serve. The most basic activity of the Society is the visitation of the needy in their homes. We are faithful stewards of your generosity which allows us to provide urgent assistance whether it be for rent, food, utilities and sometimes something as basic as a bed.
This Giving Season we are launching a new program called the Warm Homes & Warm Hearts Project. Our helpline has been inundated by calls for help with heat, electricity and rent. This seems to be the biggest need our neighbors have at this time. We are so worried it will continue to get worse. SVDP is a International organization and we at Sacred Hearts are supported locally by the Boston Chapter which reimburses us a portion of money we pay towards Utilities & Rent allowing your contribution to go even further. Which allows us to support in a more beneficial way. Staying warm, keeping the lights on & roof over one’s head is a basic necessity.
So, if you would like to join us in this mission continue to put money in the poor box, or write a check made out to St. Vincent DePaul add Utilities & Rent to the memo line. Please keep our neighbors with needs in your prayers.

A network of friends, inspired by gospel values, growing in holiness, and building a more just world through personal relationships with and service to people in need.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul was founded by six college students and an older mentor in 1833. From those humble beginnings, it has grown to become a network of charity encircling the world. Today, more than 800,000 members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul are serving those in need in their own communities in 152 countries. Poverty and hardship can arrive suddenly, and with no warning. Most of our neighbors in need don’t want to ask for help. Many have no idea how it came to this. Members of the Society here in our parish personally visit our neighbors, pray with them, listen to them, and help in any way we can.
As the Rule of the Society says, “No work of charity is foreign to the Society.”
